The online “pulse pregnancy test” debate, once again put Chinese medicine under public scrutiny, this time questioning the accuracy of pulse diagnosis or scientific or not. The magic of pulse diagnosis is fueled by literary works, some patients’ word of mouth, and some Chinese doctors’ boast of their skills. Based on a short section of the pulse fluctuations alone dare to determine the complex physiopathological changes in the body, I do not know whether it is conceited or crazy. The pulse diagnosis is only one of the “four diagnoses” in Chinese medicine, its significance and look, ask, smell together with a comprehensive analysis to have meaning. Just like Western medicine can not be based on a laboratory list to see the same, expect the pulse diagnosis of the god is too much to take for granted. Since the Republic of China, the questioning of the scientific nature of Chinese medicine has never stopped, and there should be other “topics” in the future, but the questioning of the validity of Chinese medicine will become less and less, which can be observed from the clinical work. In the end, it is still a debate between Chinese and Western medicine, and the reasons for the debate are both academic and interest-based. But this debate between Chinese and Western doctors is not beneficial to patients because they cannot make a professional judgment. I hope that practitioners of Chinese and Western medicine will settle down, clearly understand their professional strengths and limitations, and cooperate to serve patients. The medical profession is not the entertainment industry and does not need talking heads.
