Classification of uterine fibroids

Uterine fibroids are divided into fibroids of the uterine body and fibroids of the cervix according to their location, and single fibroids and multiple fibroids according to their number. The fibroids grow in different directions as they increase in size: when they grow toward the plasma membrane layer on the surface of the uterus and protrude outside the uterine contour, they are called subplasma fibroids; when they protrude into the broad ligament, they are called broad ligament fibroids; when they grow toward the uterine cavity and protrude into the uterine cavity, they are called submucosal fibroids; and when they grow in the muscular layer of the uterus, they are called intermucosal fibroids.
