Early stages of lumbar disc herniation often present as recurrent back and leg pain, with typical clinical presentation often being: low back pain, radiating pain, numbness and weakness in the lower limbs. Patients with severe disc herniation will present with urinary and faecal disturbances and abnormal sensation in the saddle area.
