What to do if your newborn has hiccups

Newborn hiccups are a phenomenon caused by spasms in the hiccup muscles of newborns, mainly manifested as hiccups, with some children accompanied by spitting up. Newborn hiccups can be handled in the following ways: 1. In the process of breastfeeding, the baby cries, swallows a lot of gas and appears to hiccup. You can hold the baby upright, place the head on the mother’s forehead, gently pat the back and wait for the gas to be expelled before nursing, do not rush to feed the baby. Don’t just hold the nipple when breastfeeding, but try to hold two-thirds of the areola in your mouth to avoid gas entering your mouth while breastfeeding. 3. Master the temperature of breastfeeding, make sure that it is not too cold or too hot, but the temperature should be moderate and close observation is needed after breastfeeding. If your baby has sudden hiccups without other illnesses and the hiccups are high and strong and continuous, it is likely that your baby is suffering from cold. It is important to note that if your baby has hiccups for a long time or frequently, you should go to a regular hospital for examination and treatment to see if there are other causes of persistent hiccups.
