For more than 20 years in urology, many couples have had difficulties in getting pregnant, and they have tossed everything they have between major hospitals, tasted the pain of Chinese and Western medicines, and even more ignorant people have blamed their female partners, and it is a great pity that they have been separated from each other. In fact, medical developments have confirmed that in 40% of cases the problem is caused by the male partner, and in another 20% of cases the male and female partners are jointly responsible for the result, resulting in the inability to conceive. Worldwide, men’s sperm counts have dropped dramatically over the past 40-50 years, and many scientists believe that environmental factors are responsible for this decline. Different plastic and expanded polystyrene containers, skin creams, aerosol products, and other items that we use every day but are only now finding to contain estrogen-like compounds are so ubiquitous in today’s society that we can no longer avoid them. However, the decline in sperm count has not significantly affected male fertility because the concentration of sperm released at the time of ejaculation remains high, and even if there has been a 50% decline in concentration, the sperm count will not fall below the threshold level. If the current trend continues, sooner or later the critical point of the average sperm count will be reached and a significant decrease in male fertility will occur. Risk factors for male infertility include a history of genital trauma, genital infections, anorgasmia, alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, drugs, varicose veins, age over 40, medications, and environmental factors. Since most of them do not show symptoms, men never suspect that there is something wrong with their fertility. In conclusion, fertility is a joint effort of the couple and the male partner plays a big role in it. There are many changes men can make to improve their fertility levels, such as quitting smoking, getting proper nutrition, changing lifestyle habits, choosing when to have sex, giving up using lubricants, eliminating stress, etc., that will result in a significant increase in male fertility.
