How to medicate vocal cord keratosis

Pharmacologic treatment for mild cases of vocal fold keratosis is mainly long-term vitamin A. More severe cases require surgical treatment.
Vocal cord keratosis is a white lesion of the laryngeal mucosa that cannot be easily erased, mostly occurring in the vocal cord mucosa, as a manifestation of hyperkeratotic hyperplasia of the squamous epithelium of the vocal cord. The disease may be accompanied by simple hyperplasia of the epithelium or heterogeneous hyperplasia at all levels, and cases with heterogeneous hyperplasia are considered precancerous. The etiology of the disease is still unclear, and it is generally related to chronic inflammatory stimulation, with which micronutrient deficiencies may be associated.
Mild cases generally do not need special treatment. Avoid tobacco and alcohol, avoid all factors that stimulate the laryngeal mucosa, and long-term use of vitamin A can have a certain effect.
For those with heavy keratinization, perform microscopic surgery under support laryngoscope to excise the lesion, viable vocal cord peeling or carbon dioxide laser surgery; for those with extensive lesions and rapid progress, viable laryngeal laceration vocal cord peeling; accompanied by heterogeneous hyperplasia of the vocal cord keratinization, as it can be a pre-cancerous lesion, it should be closely observed, regularly reviewed, and surgically excised if necessary.
When suffering from this disease, it is necessary to actively seek medical treatment, systematic examination, clear diagnosis, and standardized treatment according to the degree of keratosis of the vocal folds.
