Transurethral resection of bladder tumors (TURBT) is a diagnostic as well as a therapeutic procedure that is the standard of care for superficial, non-muscle invasive carcinoma. TURBT enables specimens to be obtained for histological examination to clarify the pathological diagnosis, tumor grading and staging; and through a lumpectomy technique, all non-invasive tumors visible to the naked eye are removed. Such a procedure causes little damage to the patient and has excellent efficacy. There are a number of issues that patients should be aware of after undergoing electro-urethral resection of bladder tumors (TURBT) surgery. First, although the etiology of bladder tumors is still not fully understood, many studies have demonstrated that smoking is a clear risk factor, so it is recommended that you quit smoking as soon as possible. Bladder tumors are a highly recurring disease and you will need cystoscopy every 3 months for the first year after surgery and then at least once or more per year for the rest of your life, as appropriate. If the tumor recurs during this time, you will need to undergo surgery again. If you experience a recurrence of symptoms such as hematuria and/or lower abdominal discomfort, it is recommended that you be seen as an outpatient as soon as possible. To reduce the risk of tumor recurrence, and depending on your condition, you will need to have regular intravesical drug infusions as prescribed; you should reduce the amount of water you drink on the day of infusion to increase the concentration of the drug in the bladder; this will improve the efficacy of the drug. Some patients may experience discomfort such as urinary frequency, urgency and pain after multiple instillation treatments, which may be related to drug irritation of the bladder mucosa or urinary tract infection, and you are advised to consult your doctor promptly. There are no special requirements for postoperative diet. You are advised to consume cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower (cauliflower), and purple kale. It has been confirmed in foreign literature that such vegetables have a preventive and therapeutic effect on uroepithelial tumors (including bladder tumors).
