Frequent chest pain after drug balloon may be caused by restenosis of the surgical site, stenosis in other parts of the body, or other non-cardiac diseases, which need to be treated with continued drug balloon therapy, replacement with metal stent, drugs or surgery according to different situations.
1. Surgical site restenosis: some patients may have restenosis due to intolerance to the drugs in the balloon, which does not effectively inhibit the proliferation of vascular smooth muscle. In this case, coronary angiography should be performed again, and if the stenosis is restenosis, it should be replaced by metal stent treatment.
2. Stenosis in other parts: some patients may have more lesions, due to the lack of standardized medication or lifestyle habits have not improved, other parts of the stenosis, it is recommended to improve the coronary artery angiography, if found that other parts of the stenosis is more serious, may need to continue to drug the balloon or placement of metal stent treatment.
3. Other non-cardiac diseases: some patients’ chest pain may be caused by non-cardiac diseases, such as intercostal neuritis, lung tumor, bronchial dilatation, neurosis, etc., which need to improve chest CT, cardiac ultrasound, troponin and other auxiliary examinations, to make a clear diagnosis, and then carry out medication or surgical treatment.
