The goal of treatment of sinusitis in children is to treat the cause, control the symptoms, and prevent complications. Sinusitis in children is influenced by the child’s physical condition, genetic factors, respiratory diseases, etiology and environment, and its incidence and recurrence rate are very high. For this disease, it is difficult to control symptoms and prevent recurrence as much as possible, but it is difficult to “get rid of the root”.
In some children with acute sinusitis, the symptoms can be completely controlled and will not recur; in a small number of children with chronic sinusitis, the clinical symptoms can also disappear. These children, whose symptoms are completely controlled and do not recur, are “cured” in the common sense. In this case, patients need to be actively involved in medication and nasal irrigation to improve nasal ventilation and nasal drainage, reduce nasal mucosal inflammation, and restore nasal mucosal function. If necessary, interventions such as negative pressure suction, sinus endoscopy, adenoidectomy, nasal polypectomy and sinus balloon dilation are required to achieve the treatment goal.
