The cervical lymph nodes belong to the normal immune organs of the body and are located in the subchin triangle. Under normal circumstances, they appear to be soft, smooth, mobile and well-defined. Clinically, the lymph nodes in the neck are divided into seven zones, namely, the subchin and submandibular lymph node zone, the upper jugular vein lymph node zone, the middle jugular vein lymph node zone, the lower jugular vein lymph node zone, the posterior jugular triangle lymph node zone, the central lymph node zone and the upper mediastinal lymph node zone. 1. The subchin and submandibular lymph node zone: it is called zone Ⅰ and contains the chin, lip, cheek, floor of the mouth and front of the tongue. The lymph nodes are divided into two parts: ⅠA and ⅠB by the boundary of the diastasis muscle; 2. The lymph node area of the superior group of the internal jugular vein: called Ⅱ, located below the diastasis muscle, bounded by the lateral edge of the sternocleidomastoid muscle and the posterior edge of the sternocleidomastoid muscle, which is usually the first site of laryngeal cancer metastasis, and divided into two parts: ⅡA and ⅡB by the boundary of the paramedian nerve; 3. The lymph node area of the middle group of the internal jugular vein: called Ⅲ, mainly located at the level of the hyoid bone It is mainly located at the level of the scapula and the intersection of the internal jugular vein, and the boundary is the same as that of the upper jugular vein lymph node zone; 4. The lower jugular vein lymph node zone: it is called zone IV, and the boundary is the same as that of the upper jugular vein lymph node zone, and contains the scapulo-hyoid muscle, the lateral border of the sternocleidomastoid muscle and the clavicle. Zone II, Zone III and Zone IV constitute the internal jugular vein lymph node area, which is an important area for cervical contour removal; 5. Posterior cervical triangle lymph node area: called Zone V, which contains the lymph nodes of the posterior occipital triangle and the supraclavicular lymph nodes, bounded by the anterior border of the trapezius muscle, the posterior border of the sternocleidomastoid muscle and the clavicle, and divided by the inferior belly of the scapulolinguinal muscle, which is divided into two parts, Zone VA and Zone VB; 6. Central lymph node area: called Zone VI. It belongs to the peri-visceral lymph nodes, including cricothyroid lymph nodes, peri-tracheal lymph nodes, peri-thyroid lymph nodes, etc. The boundaries are the common carotid artery, internal jugular vein, hyoid bone and superior sternal fossa; 7. Upper mediastinal lymph node area: called Zone VII, the boundaries are the common carotid artery, superior sternal fossa and aortic arch. When patients have infections and tumors, the corresponding changes of lymph nodes can occur, which can be manifested as reactive hyperplasia, enlargement and pain of lymph nodes, etc. Under the guidance of doctors, antibiotics can be taken for anti-inflammatory treatment, and patients with tumors can be actively treated for tumors, such as surgical removal.
