This will be analysed on a case-by-case basis. If the belly button pain is caused by the belly button itself, with redness, swelling and oozing of the belly button, you will need to see a paediatric surgeon. If there is no pathology in the navel or abdominal wall itself, then a paediatric internal medicine or paediatric surgery consultation is possible. If the pain in the belly button is severe, or if the pain continues to worsen, you will need to see the emergency department first.
