1.In the early stage of pain, when the symptoms are not serious, oral carbamazepine can be taken to control the symptoms. Trigeminal nerve branch block can also be used for treatment. 2.If the pain is severe and the body is in good condition, general anesthesia can be tolerated, the preferred treatment is to undergo “trigeminal nerve root decompression via posterior occipital approach”, which has the highest cure rate among all treatment modalities and is the only one that can preserve normal sensation in the face. It is also the only way to preserve normal sensation in the face. However, the corresponding treatment risk is also the highest, and the incidence of risk is directly related to the experience of the surgeon in charge. Our department performs 800 to 1000 cases of this type of surgery every year, and the cure rate of trigeminal nerve surgery can reach 95%. If the patient is in poor physical condition and cannot tolerate surgical treatment, and has a large reaction to oral carbamazepine, radiofrequency or r-knife can be used to selectively destroy the trigeminal nerve hemianopia. 4.If the patient is old and in very poor physical condition, cannot tolerate the reaction of carbamazepine drug, moreover, cannot tolerate the surgery or radiofrequency treatment, only suitable for r-knife treatment.
