Many people may not believe that allergic diseases (or allergic disorders) are not just a common disease, but have become a global epidemic. Then let the data from the World Allergic Organization (WAO) tell the story: an epidemiological survey of 1.2 billion people in 30 countries showed that 250 million people (22%) suffer from IgE-mediated allergic diseases. Such a high incidence of allergic diseases is surprising and sobering. It is for this reason that on June 28, 2005, WAO, in collaboration with national allergy agencies, launched a global initiative to combat allergic diseases, designating July 8 this year as the first World Allergic Diseases Day. The theme of this year’s World Allergic Diseases Day is “Focus on and prevent allergic diseases”, with the aim of raising public awareness of allergic diseases and educating doctors, patients and the public about allergic diseases. Allergic diseases have become a global trend. Experts believe that the causes of allergic diseases are not yet definite, but the main reason for the rapid increase in the incidence of allergic diseases is the gradual deterioration of the living environment, as a result of accelerated industrialization and increased atmospheric pollution, so that people who were not allergic have evolved into allergic. The increase of vehicles and aromatized particles in diesel exhaust accelerates the occurrence of allergic inflammatory reactions. There is also formaldehyde caused by home renovation, etc. The increased calorie and oil content within the diet causes an increase in free radicals in the body, which also leads to inflammatory reactions in the body. The common allergic reactions are respiratory allergic reactions, digestive allergic reactions, skin allergic reactions, and anaphylaxis. The main manifestations are allergic rhinitis, allergic asthma, allergic gastroenteritis, and allergic skin diseases such as eczema, urticaria, maculopapular rash, papular rash, scratchy skin, atopic dermatitis, windblown rash, and itchy skin. In recent years, among all allergic diseases, the population of patients with allergic rhinitis and allergic asthma is rapidly increasing, and according to WHO, “the global epidemic of respiratory allergic diseases is growing”.
