Chin augmentation A beauty lover wants to have a perfect face shape with a melon face and a pointed chin (pointed chin). However, some people are born with a wide and flat chin. It does not matter, chin augmentation or chin surgery can completely change your face shape and fulfill your desire for a pointed chin. There are many different materials available for chin implants. Some of the more popular ones are medical silicone rubber, medpor, tumescent and some injectable materials. They all enhance the line of the chin and make the chin or jawline look balanced with the rest of the face. The surgical incision is very concealed and safe. The intra-oral incision does not damage the vital tissues of the nerves and blood vessels, recovery is quick and importantly, the appearance of any scar is not visible and very acceptable. Pre-surgery Preparation Before surgery, the patient should clearly present his or her expectations to the surgeon, who will help the patient explain the possible results of the surgery. Photographs of the desired result can be brought in to facilitate discussion. If an incision will be made in the mouth, tell the surgeon if you smoke and if you have any dental or gum disease. Antibiotics may be taken before and after surgery to prevent infection. Surgery The surgery should be performed in a hospital operating room. Most of the surgery is performed under general anesthesia, but it can also be done under local anesthesia with sedation. It may take about half an hour to insert the chin prosthesis. During the procedure, the surgeon selects an appropriately sized and shaped implant to be placed in front of the chin. An incision is usually made intraorally along the lower lip, or sometimes under the chin, and the implant is placed directly in front of the mandible. The chin is usually held in place with adhesive tape after surgery to reduce swelling and discomfort. The sutures are removed 5-7 days after surgery. Any intraoral sutures will fall out on their own. After surgery For a few days after surgery, there will be discomfort and swelling in the surgical area, and smiling and talking will be difficult. It is important to take care of oral hygiene after surgery and to eat and drink with some restrictions to prevent inappropriate movements that could shift the position of the implant. After surgery, there is a significant improvement in appearance within a short period of time. However, it is important not to participate in sports that expose the face to shocks or blows for several weeks. It may be a few weeks before the patient is comfortable with his or her image and it is important to give yourself enough time to get used to your new image. The patient may be surprised herself, as many people will not notice that she has had surgery, but will simply say that she has grown prettier. Complications Chin implant surgery can bring about significant changes with few complications, but there are still some possibilities. Sometimes the position of the chin implant may shift, so another surgery is needed to restore it to its normal position. Infection may also occur, and if the prosthesis becomes infected and cannot be controlled with antimicrobial treatment, the prosthesis will need to be removed and later reinserted at an appropriate time. Other rare complications can occur and must be discussed carefully with the surgeon before surgery.
