Iron filings spattered from a sanding machine are easily embedded in the cornea to form a corneal foreign body due to high speed and heat. If there is grinding machine grinding work, and there is redness, pain, photophobia and tearing of the eye, it may be a corneal foreign body. If you have a corneal foreign body, you must visit a regular eye hospital to confirm the diagnosis of a corneal iron foreign body, which needs to be scraped out with a needle under a microscope and requires just a superficial anesthetic, without anesthetic. It is possible that the corneal foreign body may not be removed cleanly at one time, because the corneal iron foreign body will have a rust ring around it, and the rust ring is very difficult to scrape off, and after treatment, the cornea will be easily left with scarring. If not taken in a regular eye hospital, it may cause corneal ulcers, corneal infections and so on.
