What are the signs of periodic paralysis?

Periodic palsy is characterised by periodic episodes of muscle weakness and paralysis, often occurring at rest after exercise, after a full meal, when waking up in the morning or during sleep at night, and is usually more pronounced in the proximal limbs, starting in the lower limbs, and in severe cases may gradually involve the muscles of the upper limbs and even the neck, and even manifestations such as unclear speech.
