Itchy ears with abnormal running water are usually caused by ear diseases such as otitis media or otitis externa, such as chronic diffuse otitis externa, which is characterised by an itchy outer ear canal with a small amount of discharge. The disease can usually be identified by laboratory tests and otoscopy.
