How to differentiate between lung cleansing and lung promotion for children

Clearing the lung and promoting the lung are treatments used in Chinese medicine to treat lung diseases, either medically or non-pharmacologically, in order to eliminate external evil and restore the cathartic and respiratory functions of the lung. The choice between clearing the lung and promoting the lung is determined by the specific clinical manifestations of the lung disease. Lung heat is caused by wind-heat and evil toxins that attack the lungs, and the child will show obvious “heat signs”, which are commonly seen as vicious cold, fever, cough, chest pain, sputum production and fishy smell. The main symptoms include yellow and sticky phlegm, eye droppings, heavy breath, sore throat, red face, red lips, red tongue, red tongue, dry and hard stools, and smelly stools. When you encounter such symptoms, you need to choose a treatment that focuses on clearing lung heat. When the lung is congested with phlegm and saliva, and there is a problem with the circulation of the lung, manifesting as phlegm, chest tightness, breathlessness, coughing and shortness of breath (especially obvious in children with coughing and phlegm), the treatment method of “lung circulation” should be chosen. Therefore, when a child has a respiratory disease, the choice between clearing the lung and promoting the lung can be differentiated by carefully distinguishing the clinical manifestations and grasping the core symptoms.
