Do you know about tear duct disease?

Lacrimal disease mainly refers to the occurrence of lacrimal obstruction (including upper and lower lacrimal duct obstruction, common lacrimal duct obstruction, nasolacrimal duct obstruction and chronic dacryocystitis, etc.). Patients suffering from this type of eye disease often have overflowing tears, pus and other symptoms tears, bringing patients
It brings endless troubles and pains to the patients. Lacrimal duct obstruction can occur in any part of the lacrimal duct, long occurring in the lacrimal dots, lacrimal ducts, lacrimal sac – nasolacrimal duct junction and the lower nasolacrimal duct mouth. Patients with lacrimal duct obstruction have chronic lacrimal flow, which not only affects vision, but also hinders cosmetology, and patients with chronic dacryocystitis also have pus flowing from the corner of the eye.
  Several common lacrimal tract diseases
  1. Acute dacryocystitis
Mostly caused by chronic dacryocystitis. The skin of the lacrimal sac area is red, swollen, painful and painful, and in severe cases there can be general discomfort, fever and other symptoms. When the abscess matures, it can be punctured by the skin surface and form a fistula. In the acute stage, systemic antibiotics should be applied, and after the acute inflammation subsides, it should be treated according to the principles of chronic dacryocystitis treatment.
  2.Chronic dacryocystitis
Due to the obstruction of the nasolacrimal duct, bacteria and tears accumulate in the blocked lacrimal sac and often stimulate the mucous membrane of the lacrimal sac wall, resulting in chronic inflammation. Lachrymation is the prominent symptom. Treatment is to squeeze out the pus at any time, apply local antibiotic eye drops, and flush the tear sac with saline or antibiotics every day or every other day until the pus disappears, and then consider probing, but most cases require surgical treatment.
  3.Blocked tear duct
It is one of the most common clinical eye diseases, characterized by lacrimation or with discharge, and is seen in patients of all ages.
4.Lacrimal puncta and lacrimal duct disease
Ectropion of the lacrimal dots: Ectropion of the lower eyelid due to various causes is inevitably accompanied by ectropion of the lacrimal dots, which prevents the lacrimal dots from being in close contact with the surface of the eye and prevents tears from entering the lacrimal duct and overflowing. The principle of treatment is to surgically correct the ectropion. Chronic conjunctivitis, trachoma, blepharitis, traumatic scar formation, etc. can cause narrow windows or occlusion of the lacrimal dots and tear ducts. In the case of tear duct occlusion, a tear duct dilator is used to fully dilate the tear duct, and the duct is probed with a lacrimal probe. If the lacrimal duct is severely obstructed and cannot be probed, surgical treatment can be tried.
  Retrograde lacrimal duct cannulation
Chronic dacryocystitis is a common eye in middle-aged and elderly people, characterized by lacrimation and pus flow, which brings great inconvenience to life and work and affects the patient’s image to some extent. Due to the presence of a large number of bacteria in the pus, when the eye is subjected to trauma and surgery, it can easily cause various acute intra- and extra-ocular infections that can seriously threaten the safety of the eye. Chronic dacryocystitis is traditionally treated by nasal lacrimal sac anastomosis, which is complicated and painful because of the need to “cut the skin and bone” in the nose, and the facial incision, postoperative tube and sutures affect the appearance, making the procedure reluctant to accept, and retrograde lacrimal intubation is an effective method we carry out to treat chronic dacryocystitis. This technique does not make an incision, and by retrograde placement of a medical imported silicone tube tailored to approximate the anatomy of the tear duct in the tear duct, the blocked tear duct is reopened to achieve the purpose of radical treatment.
  Treatment of lacrimal duct disease
Lacrimal duct disease is a common and frequent disease in ophthalmology. Congenital abnormalities, inflammation or trauma can cause lacrimal duct narrowing or obstruction. Tear overflow is the main symptom of the disease, which not only brings discomfort to patients, but also long-term tear maceration, which can cause chronic irritant conjunctivitis, eczematous dermatitis of the lower lid and cheek, and in some cases, keratitis or corneal ulcer, bringing serious consequences to patients.
  1.Laser treatment for tear ducts
Laser has the advantages of less trauma, no side effects, no scars, short surgery time and economy, which is the first choice for some patients with lacrimal tract diseases.
It mainly treats tear duct narrowing and obstruction caused by inflammation, such as narrowing and obstruction of lacrimal duct, common lacrimal duct, obstruction of nasolacrimal duct, chronic dacryocystitis and other cases.
  2.Lacrimal duct surgery
Tear duct surgery includes lacrimal punctoplasty, lacrimal duct exploration, lacrimal fistula repair, lacrimal duct obstruction repair, traumatic lacrimal duct rupture repair, common lacrimal duct obstruction repair, lacrimal sac nasal anastomosis, total lacrimal ductoplasty, etc.
It is suitable for the treatment of lacrimal stenosis, congenital dacryocystitis, traumatic lacrimal duct rupture, chronic dacryocystitis and other cases.
  3.Nasal endoscopy
Nasal endoscopy is the most advanced surgery nowadays, which has good treatment effect, more durable and less recurrence rate.
