Fetal movement refers to the movement of the fetus in the uterine cavity, impacting the uterine wall. The number, speed and strength of fetal movement indicate the changes of the fetus in the abdomen. There is fetal movement in the fourth month of pregnancy, but the amount of fetal movement is small and not intense, some pregnant women do not feel it obviously, it is a normal physiological phenomenon, usually from about five months, you can obviously feel the fetal movement. After the fourth month of pregnancy, under normal circumstances, the obvious fetal movement is not less than 3-5 times in one hour, and the number of obvious fetal movement is about 30 times or more in 12 hours. Normal fetal movement indicates that the placenta is functioning well, the oxygen delivered to the fetus is sufficient and the growth and development in the uterus is healthy. The number of fetal movements is not fixed, 28-38 weeks of gestation is the period of active fetal movements, and then gradually decreases until delivery. The number of fetal movements is related to the pregnant woman’s emotions, activities and external stimuli, and the number, speed and strength of fetal movements vary in different stages of pregnancy. If the number of fetal movements is too fast or too slow, it is not normal and may be caused by lack of oxygen. It is recommended to have an ultrasound examination in time to clarify and, if necessary, to inhale oxygen under the guidance of a doctor and pay attention to rest and not to exercise strenuously to avoid affecting the fetal development.
