Does calcium deficiency cause bone pain?

Long-term calcium deficiency may result in skeletal pain. In case of calcium deficiency in infants or adolescents, it may affect bone growth and cause growing pains and cramps. Clinically, growing pains are more common, mostly seen in knee, calf or thigh pains, and reasonable calcium supplementation can relieve the pain. In case of calcium deficiency in middle and old age, it will lead to osteoporosis, which may also lead to pain in the bones of the whole body after osteoporosis, mainly manifesting as pain in the lower back, presenting as wandering pain and activity pain, which can be alleviated after rest, and may be aggravated when getting up and moving or exercising, usually requiring anti-osteoporosis treatment, mainly containing two aspects of calcium supplementation and inhibition of bone destruction. Therefore, if calcium deficiency causes pain, increase the intake of calcium-containing foods, such as milk and dairy products, soy products, shrimp and fish, and add basic supplements for bone health. In addition, medications are needed for patients with osteoporosis to increase bone density and reduce the risk of fracture.
