Cold vomiting in children is actually a type of disease induced by external cold stimulation, mainly manifested as abdominal pain, vomiting, fever and other symptoms, often onset after eating cold, large changes in environmental temperature, strenuous exercise and a large number of cold drinks. In Chinese medicine, it is typed as pediatric vomiting caused by cold evil attacking the stomach and epigastrium and loss of harmony and descent of the stomach, with cold pain in the stomach and epigastrium, acute pain, warmth, vomiting of clear water, cold extremities, white fur and tight pulse as common symptoms. This condition is often treated clinically with Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Shui. Western medicine classifies this type of condition as gastrointestinal colds. Gastrointestinal cold is also known as “vomiting upper sensation”, and its symptoms are mainly: stomach distension, abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea. The onset of the disease is mainly triggered by external stimuli and other factors, and occurs more often when the weather changes from cold to warm. This is due to the cold air on the stomach and intestines stimulation, coupled with abnormal habits, poor diet, etc.. Parents need to pay attention to the fact that cold vomiting is accompanied by a large amount of fluid loss, and excessive loss can lead to electrolyte disorders, dehydration and other complications in the body, so the child needs to be given oral rehydration salts a few times. If frequent and severe vomiting and/or diarrhea occur, the child should be seen by a hospital promptly.
