What are the contraindications to medication for pregnant women?

Penicillin: can destroy fetal erythrocytes, cause severe jaundice, and cause fetal death. Streptomycin: Causes congenital deafness, malformation of bone development. Tetracycline: causes incomplete tooth enamel formation, skeletal and heart malformation, congenital cataract, short limbs or defects (such as missing four fingers), hemolytic jaundice in newborns, and in the most serious cases, cerebral nuclear jaundice or even death. Oxytetracycline and doxycycline: cause short limb deformity in fetus. Chloramphenicol: causes impaired blood circulation, respiratory insufficiency, cyanosis and abdominal distention in newborns (i.e. “gray baby syndrome”). If used in large quantities at the end of pregnancy, it may cause neonatal thrombocytopenia, aplastic anemia or fetal death. Karamycin: Causes deafness. Leucovorin: Causes central nervous system damage and anencephaly. 6-Mercaptopurine, testosterone propionate, L-mentholatase: cause fetal malformation. Azadirachtin benzoate: can cause renal and ureteral defects. Thiotepa, 5-fluorothiouracil, mitomycin C, colchicine: cause fetal death. It is safer to use these antineoplastic drugs if they are used after the 16th week of pregnancy. Bicoumarins: can cause fetal skin bleeding spots, brain disorders, placental abruption, bone and facial malformations, mental retardation or fetal death. Warfarin: Causes abnormal nasal bone development and malformation. Methanesulfonylurea (Methandiamide, Methanesulfonylurea, D860): Causes abortion, premature birth, and has a pro-teratogenic effect. Propylthiouracil, methionine, tabazol, methoprene, potassium iodide: cause hypothyroidism, cretinism, delayed ossification, hypospadias. Dihydrokethionine or cyclopentaclorothiazide: can cause neonatal thrombocytopenia. Risperdal: Causes neonatal toxicity, nasal congestion, respiratory obstruction, and even death due to hypoxia. Caffeine: Causes cleft lip and palate. Ether: Large amounts of continuous use can cause fetal death. All arsenic-containing drugs: all cause fetal death. Polymyxin E, B and vancomycin: prolonged administration causes acute renal failure in pregnant women and makes the child susceptible to neuromuscular blockage, dyskinesia, vertigo, convulsions and perioral sensory abnormalities for 3 years after birth. Vancomycin can also cause temporary or permanent deafness in infants.
