Arthroplasty for adolescent hip destruction

A female, 16 years old. She underwent an acetabular lid surgery in a foreign country because of left acetabular dysplasia. After the surgery, the femoral head was basically destroyed and disappeared, and the acetabular side had a huge bone defect with incomplete anterior and posterior walls (see Figure 1), and there were several sinus tracts flowing thickly in the hip. The patient came to Beijing for consultation in 2007. After Dr. Cao Yongping gave hip cleanup and antibiotic bone cement placeholder to control the infection, he reconstructed the huge bone defect on the acetabular side using an acetabular brace and performed an artificial hip replacement (Figure 2), which allowed this teenager to regain good hip function. 2014-8-30 follow-up this patient had no more sinus tracts in the hip and the hip function was good.
