1. Intravenous tranexamic acid should be administered before the start of arthroplasty; at least one dose of tranexamic acid should be administered after surgery. The recommended dose is 10-20 mg/kg or a fixed dose of 1 g. 2. When tranexamic acid is applied topically, hemostatic effect is better at doses greater than 2 g than at lower doses. 3. In patients at high risk of thrombosis, tranexamic acid is preferred for topical application. 4. In the arthroplasty population, the evidence from the current studies does not suggest that tranexamic acid increases the incidence of symptomatic venous thromboembolic events. There are fewer side effect events associated with the application of tranexamic acid.
