Recurring fever in children is usually a few days

Recurrent fever in children may be caused by bacterial or viral infections. Viral ones usually last for 5-7 days; bacterial ones will improve in 2-3 days after effective antibiotic treatment, and it may take about 5-7 days to completely reduce the fever. During a child’s fever, if the body temperature is below 38.5℃, it can be cooled down by physical methods, such as cold and wet compresses on the head, or warm water wiping the armpits, palms, popliteal fossa, etc. If the body temperature exceeds 38.5℃, you can choose to lower the temperature with anal fever suppositories or oral antipyretic drugs such as ibuprofen. However, if the temperature exceeds 39℃ and persistently high, it may cause convulsions in children. If there is a serious bacterial infection, or a combination of other pathogens on top of a viral infection, which may cause the fever to linger, it is recommended that the child be seen in a hospital emergency room or pediatric department in a timely manner. During the fever, parents should let their children drink plenty of warm water, pay attention to a light diet and do not eat spicy and stimulating foods.
