Fetal position in the belly at 26 weeks of pregnancy

The fetus is relatively small at 26 weeks of gestation, the amniotic fluid is relatively large, and the fetus has a wide range of movement in the uterus; therefore, the fetal position is not fixed. Most of the positions of the fetus in the pregnant woman’s belly during this period are with the fetal head on the bottom and the buttocks on the top. After 32 weeks of gestation, the fetus grows rapidly, the amniotic fluid is relatively reduced, the fetus is close to the uterine wall, and the fetal posture and position will be relatively fixed. The position of the fetus in the pregnant woman’s belly may change at any time during the 26th week of pregnancy, when the pregnant woman feels fetal movement. The fetal position can be seen under ultrasound, or can be examined by four-step palpation of the abdomen, and can also be judged by listening to the fetal heartbeat. If the fetal position is cephalic, the fetal heart is usually heard more clearly below the umbilicus; if the fetus is breech, which means the fetus’ buttocks are below, the fetal heart will be positioned a little higher. Pregnant women can also feel the fetal position by touching it on the abdominal wall. Generally, the fetal head is round and hard with a floating ball feeling, the fetal back is wide and flat, the fetal rump is wide and soft with irregular shape, and the fetal limbs are small and have irregular activities. It is not necessary to pay special attention to the position of the fetus in the belly at 26 weeks of pregnancy, it is recommended to pay more attention to the fetal heartbeat and fetal movement. The normal fetal movement is 3-5 times per hour, more active in the evening and afternoon, but not obvious when the fetus is sleeping, the general fetal sleep cycle is 20-40 minutes.
