Calcium supplementation effect of bone broth and milk

  October 20 is “World Osteoporosis Day”. At the site of “Bone Strength Prevention and Feeding” activity of Hunan Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, medical experts popularized osteoporosis knowledge and conducted free bone density test for the public.  69-year-old Grandma Xiao’s on-site bone density test results showed severe calcium deficiency. “Does the treatment of osteoporosis mean calcium supplementation? Is it okay to drink bone broth?” The old man was full of questions.  Hunan Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention Party Secretary Huang Yuelong answered, “Drinking bone broth for calcium is a misconception, a bowl of bone broth contains far less calcium than a bowl of milk.”  Huang Yuelong introduced, bone soup dissolves a large amount of fat in the bone, often eaten may also cause other health problems. Prevention and mitigation of osteoporosis, in addition to calcium and vitamin D supplementation, but also to actively improve diet and lifestyle, to achieve a balanced diet, moderate exercise, an average of not less than 20 minutes of sunlight per day.  The reporter learned that bone density reflects the degree of osteoporosis and is the basis for fracture prevention. The incidence of osteoporosis has jumped to the 7th common disease in the world. At present, there are about 70 million people with osteoporosis in China, and the total prevalence of osteoporosis in people over 50 years old is 15.7%, with an average of one osteoporotic fracture every 3 seconds.  It is reported that the province has carried out promotional activities for osteoporosis prevention and treatment, and will train the general public and professionals at different levels. Next year, a bone movement exercise competition will be launched among middle-aged and elderly people aged 35 to 65 to prevent osteoporosis in the form of square dance.
