What are the clinical manifestations of patients with pulmonary encephalopathy?

Early stages of pulmonary encephalopathy manifest mainly as headache, nausea, vomiting, irritability, and loss of vision, memory and judgment.
The later stages of the disease are characterized by confusion, babbling, unconscious movements or small twitching of the limbs. Some patients may alternate between drowsiness and hyperactivity and talk a lot, and in severe cases, patients may also become unconscious or even comatose.
