After taking a short time, sip hot thin gruel to help the power of the medicine. Cover with warmth for a while and sweat slightly all over the body is good. If the disease is cured by sweating in one serving, stop taking the next serving, it is not necessary to finish the dose, if not sweating, take more, according to the previous method, and do not sweat, the latter serving small promotion between them, half a day, so that the three suits are finished. Take a dose to the end, the evidence of the disease is still there, more to serve, if the sweat does not come out, is served to two or three doses;

It is contraindicated in cases of superficial reality without sweating, superficial cold and internal heat, and the first onset of warming disease with fever and thirst.
The formula: Gui Zhi Tang, in which Gui Zhi is the ruler, is pungent and warm, liberates the Yang, relieves the muscles and releases the symptoms, disperses the evil of external wind and cold in order to regulate the Wei. Paeonia lactiflora refers to white peony, as the subject herb, sour, bitter and slightly cold, benefiting yin and lining, astringent to consolidate the external drainage of yin to harmonize ying. Gui and Shao are combined in equal amounts and are used for each other, one treating the strong Wei and one treating the weak Ying, with a collection in dispersal and a tonic in sweat, so that the surface evil is relieved and the Ying and Wei are harmonized. Ginger helps cinnamon branch pungent to disperse surface evil, and can warm the stomach to stop vomiting; jujube helps peony to benefit yin and nourish blood, ginger and jujube together, replenish the spleen and stomach, and harmonize the Ying and Wei, together as an adjuvant. Glycyrrhiza glabra harmonizes all the medicines, combining with Gui Zhi pungent and sweet to realize the Yang for the Wei, and with Paeonia lactiflora sour and sweet to harmonize the Yin for the Ying, which is the adjuvant medicine. Some old Chinese medicine practitioners added 30g of Huang Qi and 10g of Glutinous Rice Root to the original formula to treat spontaneous sweating in the elderly, and the effect was very obvious. Add Astragalus to nourish the lung and strengthen the guard to cultivate the root, and glutinous rice root to stop sweating to treat the symptoms.

Mix the juice of the two decoctions, a total of 300 ml, and take it in two doses, 150 ml each time. After taking the medicine, lie down and cover with a blanket to keep warm and sweat slightly. If you sweat once, you can stop taking the second decoction. If you do not sweat slightly after taking the first dose, you can take the second dose after 4 to 5 hours. After the second dose, if there is still no slight sweating, you can take another dose of medicine (the same as before). Take the medicine to get a slight sweat. Some people take 4 to 5 times before taking the effect. After taking ephedra soup, it is necessary to cover more clothes, “warm cover” to get sweat, no need to drink thin porridge.
Main treatment: The wind-cold evil injures the skin, causing the symptoms of floating and tight pulse, no sweat, headache, body pain, vicious chills and fever, which is the actual evidence of the Sun. In case of superficial solid evidence, the method of pungent warmth and sweating should be applied to dispel the cold.
This formula is based on the main medicine of Ephedra with pungent warmth to promote dispersal; supplemented by Gui Zhi with pungent warmth to help Yang, which can help Ephedra’s ascension and propagation, and the taste of Gan to consolidate the table, to restrain Ephedra’s too dispersal. The evidence is real, so it must be ephedra as the main medicine and not inverted. More adjuvant almond bitter warm and descending, not only warm help ephedra to expel evil in the Xuan Fu (refers to the skin and hair orifices), and purge the rebellious gas in the lungs and stomach; more to make the sweet and flat licorice, adjuvant Gui Zhi to and internal and reject external. Drink into the stomach, spleen qi disperses essence, return to the lungs, infusion of essence in the skin, hair veins together with essence, Qin Qin sweat, so that the evil in the table with sweat to go and not stay, headache, fever, asthma, body pain and other symptoms naturally resolved. Main treatment: Ma Heng Gan Shi Tang is from “Treatise on Typhoid Fever” by Zhang Zhong Jing of Han Dynasty. Its efficacy is mainly to “cool and ventilate, clear the lungs and calm asthma”. Originally, it was mainly used to treat “sweating and asthma” caused by wind-cold entering the interior and turning into heat. Later, the Qing dynasty physician Ke Yunbo also used it to treat “wheezing without sweating and great heat” and other conditions. At present, clinically, no matter whether the disease is caused by wind-cold entering the lungs and turning into heat or by external wind-heat, or whether the patient shows sweating or no sweating, as long as it is consistent with the “evidence of Ma Heng Gan Shi Tang” (heat in the lungs, heat in the body, wheezing and coughing, thirst and counted pulse), Ma Heng Gan Shi Tang can be applied. In addition, patients with acute bronchitis and asthmatic bronchitis who present with the above clinical manifestations can also apply this formula.
Theory: Ma Heng Gan Shi Tang mainly has the effect of clearing lung heat and calming asthma (i.e., clearing the lung and calming asthma). The ephedra in the formula is to calm asthma, and also has the effect of propagation and draining; gypsum can clear lung heat, produce fluid and quench thirst; almonds can stop cough and calm asthma, and can complement ephedra to lower rebellion and calm asthma; roasted licorice can enhance the role of ephedra and almonds to ease asthma and cough.

Explanation: This formula is composed of Ephedra Tang with the addition of gypsum, ginger and jujube. The function of Ephedra Tang is to dispel the symptoms of sweating, but this formula increases the power of ephedra to dispel the symptoms of sweating; increases gypsum to clear internal heat and remove irritability; doubles licorice, adds ginger and jujube to harmonize the middle qi, regulate Ying and Wei, and help the source of sweating. The combined use of all the medicines together, the sweating and relieving the surface, clearing heat and eliminating irritability.

It can be taken by those who have external wind-cold symptoms with strong head and back pain and stiffness and soreness, floating pulse without sweating, evil wind, diarrhea or vomiting.
Explanation: This formula is actually Gui Zhi Tang with Ephedra and Pueraria Mirifica. The addition of ephedra with cinnamon sticks and the sweating of the Sun meridian to disperse the wind and cold and relieve the surface, the Jun Ge Gen in Gui Zhi Tang, and the Yangming meridian muscle surface of the evil, to remove the strong several of the collar and back. Because the Sun has been combined with Yangming (back of the collar strong several several, downward diarrhea, vomiting have been Yangming), know that the wind-cold evil is heavier, the use of medicine can not only treat the Sun, but focus on Yangming, to prevent internal invasion of evil, so this formula to Ge Gen as the main medicine. The former has “light can go to the real, ephedra, the genus of Ge Gen is also” records. This evidence is the surface of the actual evidence, so add Ge, hemp two drugs in the Gui Zhi Tang to remove the actual, the name is Ge Gen Tang instead of Gui Zhi plus ephedra, Ge Gen Tang, the meaning of the formula is clear.
Nine, Ge Gen Scutellaria Tang: Ge Gen 15 grams roasted licorice 6 grams scutellaria 9 grams Huang Lian 9 grams

Relief of diarrhea due to heat. Lowering diarrhea with body heat, irritable heat in the chest and epigastrium, dry mouth with thirst, panting and sweating, red tongue with yellow fur, and pulse count or rapid. (This formula is often used in acute enteritis, bacterial dysentery, intestinal typhoid fever, gastrointestinal colds and other cases with superficial evidence not yet resolved and internal heat very much.)
Explanation: In this formula, Ge Gen is used to specifically relieve Yang Ming’s muscular surface, and to promote Yang Ming’s clear qi, while treating diarrhea and diuresis, as the main medicine. Supplemented by scutellaria and lian, cold to clear the heat inside, bitter to strengthen the deficiency inside, and dry the dampness of the intestines and stomach. It is supplemented by Glycyrrhiza glabra, which clears heat in the lining, strengthens deficiency in the lining, and dries dampness in the intestine and stomach. The four herbs are combined to form a formula for relieving muscle surface and clearing internal heat. This is a variation of the Sun Yang Ming, the two solutions.
Ten, five Ling San: Poria 24 grams, pig ling 24 grams, 24 grams of Atractylodes Macrocephalae, 48 grams of zedoary, cinnamon 15 grams.
Usage: Finely ground, take 3-5 grams each time, warm water, 3 times a day. Or use 15-20 grams, decocted soup to remove the dregs to take. After taking, drink hot water, warm over a slight sweat. Recently, it is mostly changed to soup and taken with water decoction.
Indications: This formula functions to resolve qi and diuresis, and to strengthen the spleen and dispel dampness. It is used for treating patients with typhoid fever and sun disease, who have internal stoppage of water-dampness. After taking sweating agent, the surface evidence is not resolved, headache and fever, and the evil of damp-heat enters the interior and is stored in the internal organs of the sun – the bladder, with unfavorable urination, thirst for water, vomiting when water enters, and floating pulse; and edema, short urination, or water-dampness diarrhea and urination caused by internal stoppage of water-dampness. In recent times, it is also commonly used for nephritis and edema, gastroenteritis and diarrhea, infectious hepatitis and other diseases with unfavorable urination.
Formula: This product is a diuretic agent, and recent animal experiments have proved that it has diuretic effect. The formula is based on the salty cold of Zexie, which enters the watery internal organs and wins the knotted heat, which is the main medicine; the light percolation of dampness with Erling, which regulates the water channel and transports the bladder down to diarrhea water-heat, which is the supplementary medicine; the strengthening of the spleen and drying dampness with Atractylodes macrocephala, which helps the earth to control water, which is the adjuvant medicine; and the pungent warmth of Gui Zhi, which promotes Yang Qi, helps the whole body to gasify and steam the three jiao to facilitate water, which is the enabling medicine. The combination of the five herbs can not only treat the internal evidence of water retention in the bladder and unfavorable urination, but also solve the superficial evidence of water retention and fever. If there is no surface evidence, it can also be changed to cinnamon 3-5 grams.
XI. Bai Hu Tang: 18 grams of Zhi Mu, 35-40 grams of raw gypsum (first decoction), 6 grams of licorice and 6 grams of round-grained rice.

The first decoction is boiled for about 200 ml, and then 200 ml of cold water is added. Mix the juice of the two decoctions and divide it into 2 cups, take 1 cup each time, 2 times a day, or 3 times if necessary. Or even take 4 times (2 doses) day and night.
This formula was originally used for the treatment of typhoid fever, after sweating, the fever does not subside, much sweating, no cold, great thirst and ability to drink, the pulse is large and flooded and manifests as the main formula of Yangming meridian evidence, later it is mostly used for the treatment of various hyperthermic diseases, and some infectious diseases with hyperthermia. The symptoms include red face, yellow tongue coating, and deep yellow urine. In the 1950s, this formula or Bai Hu plus Ginseng Tang was used to treat epidemic type B encephalitis (summer fever), and it achieved good results, which became a good story.
This formula is based on the spirit of the rule of bitterness in the treatment of heat in the Nei Jing, taking the bitter cold of Zhi Mu to clear the heat of the lung and stomach and to benefit the fluids as the main medicine, and the pungent cold of Sheng Shi Fa to clear the diffuse heat of the Yang Ming meridian as a supplementary medicine. The spirit of “supplemented by bitter and sweet”, the sweet taste of licorice is used to regulate the middle and dissipate heat and harmonize all the medicines as an adjuvant; then the sweet taste of japonica rice is used to protect the stomach qi as an ambassador, and licorice is used with Zhi Mu to strengthen the rule of “supplemented by sweet and bitter”, which can not only slow down the middle and benefit the qi (heat hurts the qi), but also monitor the cold of gypsum and Zhi Mu, which can not only clear heat, but also protect the stomach qi. It can also regulate the cold of gypsum and Zhi Mu, so it can clear heat, generate fluid, and protect stomach qi without harming the middle jiao.
”White Tiger” for the representative of the West, Chinese medicine, the West also represents the autumn, the meaning of White Tiger soup, is to say that when the heat is too strong, as in the summer when the summer heat is hot, a cool autumn breeze (refers to take the White Tiger soup), the summer heat immediately dissipated. Therefore, the name of the soup is taken as white tiger, saying that it can clear the nature of heat. So this soup for the treatment of hyperthermia, can be said to be as effective as the rafter, immediate results. Some physicians, when treating serious illnesses, have increased the amount of raw gypsum to 60-90 grams or even 120-150 grams, and saved lives. However, clinical doctors must also be familiar with the contraindications of Bai Hu Tang, otherwise it will cause the disaster of “death if swallowed”. In later times, when treating the qi part of warm fever, doctors also mainly used Bai Hu Tang for treatment, and the effect was very good. In order to prohibit the abuse of this soup by doctors, the famous book “Wenzhi Zhuanzhi” has written “four prohibitions of Bai Hu” to warn future generations, which is recorded here to remind everyone not to misuse it. The “warm disease Article of Discernment” Article 9 says: “white tiger originally to reach the heat out of the table, if the person’s pulse floating string and thin, not with also; pulse sinking, not with also; not thirsty, not with also; sweat does not come out, not with also. It is often necessary to know this, do not make mistakes.
The previous people have another Bai Hu Tang precautions, also recorded for reference.” Bai Hu Tang is a big cold agent, if not a big heat and sweating, thirsty drinkers, should not be taken. If the table is not relieved, no sweat and thirsty, and can not be served, only belong to the pig ling soup.” Also said: “no sweat and thirsty and single floating pulse, do not throw Baihu.”
