The high blood pressure, or systolic blood pressure, refers to the middle stage of the contraction of the human heart, when the pressure of the blood against the walls of the blood vessels is the highest and is called systolic blood pressure. High systolic blood pressure may be caused by physiological factors or by pathological factors. 1. Physiological factors: such as emotional excitement, smoking before blood pressure measurement, drinking coffee, strenuous exercise, overwork and so on, these factors will cause sympathetic over-excitement, which will result in increased heart rate, increased cardiac output, and increased systolic blood pressure. 2. Pathological factors: primary hypertension and secondary hypertension are included. Primary hypertension is caused by arteriosclerosis in elderly patients. Secondary hypertension is mostly seen in renal diseases, such as glomerulonephritis. It is also seen in endocrine diseases such as pheochromocytoma. High systolic blood pressure carries a risk of bleeding and should be treated promptly under the supervision of a doctor.
