What is an aortic sinus aneurysm?

Recently, our cardiothoracic surgery department successfully performed aortic sinus aneurysm repair, aortic valve replacement, ventricular septal defect repair, mitral valvuloplasty and tricuspid valvuloplasty for a high-risk patient with congenital heart disease. At present, the patient, surnamed Yu, who had five major operations in the heart at the same time, has successfully recovered and was discharged from the hospital today. The 39-year-old Mr. Yu, who lives in Beilun’s Bifeng Town, has been found to have a heart condition since he was young. 7 years old, he went to Shanghai to seek medical help and was diagnosed with “congenital heart disease”, but was unable to undergo surgery due to conditions, and doctors in Shanghai predicted at the time that he would have difficulty living past the age of 12. As he grew older, Mr. Yu’s symptoms became more and more obvious, and his heart became larger and larger. After this year’s Spring Festival, Mr. Yu felt a significant increase in chest tightness and shortness of breath, and developed chest pain and dizziness, and could only sit on his bed all night, not lying flat to sleep. Mr. Yu felt that his breath had run out, and thought he could only leave it to fate at home. After a kind relative learned of the situation, he was advised to seek treatment from Dr. Zhao Guofang, the chief physician of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department of the Second Hospital. Mr. Yu was then admitted to the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department of the Second Hospital, where he was diagnosed with congenital heart disease, aortic sinus aneurysm rupture into the right ventricle, aortic valve prolapse with incomplete closure, ventricular septal defect, mitral valve incomplete closure, and tricuspid valve incomplete closure. On April 12, Mr. Yu was wheeled into the operating room and, with the close cooperation of the anesthesiology department and the operating room, Zhao Guofang and other doctors successfully performed the above five major heart surgeries on Mr. Yu. After the operation, Mr. Yu recovered smoothly under the close supervision of ICU and was able to get out of bed on the third day. At present, Mr. Yu’s chest tightness and shortness of breath have disappeared and he is moving freely, compared with the two men before the surgery. After being discharged from the hospital, Mr. Yu will be able to do his normal work after 3 to 6 months of recuperation.
