Misconceptions of vertigo patients

Vertigo is a common clinical symptom, mostly caused by inner ear factors, accounting for 60-70% of clinical cases. Vertigo caused by lesions of the vestibular system of the inner ear is a common clinical condition, accounting for about 15% of otorhinolaryngology-head and neck surgery outpatient visits. It seriously affects the quality of life of patients. Many patients even suffer from it all year round. Some patients have sudden deafness and delayed treatment due to untimely treatment. At present, there are the following misunderstandings about patients with vertigo: 1. They mistakenly believe that it is a problem of cervical spine and consult orthopedics and rehabilitation departments. This delays the treatment time and affects the treatment effect. 2.Many patients with inner ear vertigo have nausea, vomiting, sweating and other symptoms, so they consult the gastroenterology department, which leads to some unnecessary losses and delayed treatment. 3. Many patients think that vertigo is a problem of the brain, so they often consult neurology or surgery, and cannot get timely and effective treatment. Therefore, for patients with vertigo, they should go to regular hospitals in time, preferably otorhinolaryngology, to exclude inner ear factors and avoid some unnecessary examinations, which may cause unnecessary losses.
