Mite dermatitis is a type of disease caused by the bite of mites or contact with mite excreta and secretions. Metronidazole is mainly used for the treatment of intestinal and extra-intestinal amoebiasis, such as amoebic liver abscess and pleural amoebiasis; it is also used for the treatment of vaginal trichomoniasis, pouch disease and cutaneous leishmaniasis, guinea worm infection, and is widely used for the treatment of anaerobic infections.
Although there are many indications for metronidazole, mite dermatitis is not within the scope of treatment with metronidazole and therefore metronidazole is not suitable for the treatment of mite dermatitis, but if the patient has a secondary condition such as an anaerobic infection, this can be treated with metronidazole.
