What is a cesarean incision diverticulum?

γ€€γ€€A cesarean incision diverticulum is a depression in the plasma layer of the uterine incision site after lower uterine cesarean section due to a healing defect, located in the anterior and left and right walls of the cervical canal below the endocervix, with a thin muscular layer. Some diverticulae tend to accumulate residual menstrual blood, leading to prolonged periods, dribbling, and even infertility.γ€€γ€€In the past, the diagnosis rate of cesarean diverticula was not high due to the limitations of diagnostic techniques, and the abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) caused by them was often treated as functional uterine bleeding. The literature reports that 60% to 70% of patients have healing defects at the uterine incision scar after cesarean section, and 34% of them have symptoms of postmenstrual drenching bleeding.
