Sleep apnea syndrome in adults includes obstructive sleep apnea hypoventilation syndrome, central sleep apnea syndrome, and sleep hypoventilation syndrome. OSAHS is the most common syndrome in clinical practice, so this guideline focuses on OSAHS, which is mainly characterized by snoring during sleep with apnea and superficial breathing, recurrent hypoxemia, hypercapnia and sleep structural disorders at night, leading to daytime sleepiness, cardiopulmonary and vascular complications and even multi-organ damage, which seriously affects patients’ quality of life and life expectancy. Foreign data show that the prevalence of OSAHS in adults is 2% to 4%, and is an independent risk factor for a variety of systemic diseases. Currently, patients and medical workers lack sufficient knowledge about the seriousness, importance and prevalence of OSAHS, and there are many irregularities in clinical management, so corresponding guidelines need to be formulated to regulate the problems commonly encountered in clinical work.
