In the case of true contractions, i.e., contractions in labor, they usually result in a shortening of the cervical canal, which is determined by the structure of the uterus itself and the delivery. In the case of pseudo contractions, they do not lead to a shortening of the cervical canal. The uterus resembles a pear shape placed upside down, with the uterine body on top and the cervix on the bottom. After pregnancy, the cervix gradually becomes softer and shorter in length, and at the time of labor, the cervix becomes shorter and funnel-shaped due to the pulling of contractions, then flattens out and finally the cervical opening slowly opens. Pregnant women should pay attention to the nature of contractions, only true contractions are signs of labor. True contractions are regular, with an interval of about 10 minutes at the beginning, and the pregnant woman will feel abdominal pain, then the duration of the contraction will increase to 40-60 seconds, and the pain will increase, and the interval will shorten to about 3-5 minutes, accompanied by hardening of the lower abdomen, and the cervix will gradually become soft and shorten until the opening of the cervix. In case of pseudo contractions, they are generally short in duration, weak and irregular, and cannot open the cervix at this time, which is not a precursor to labor.
