Case 1: The patient was 8 years old, hearing loss for 2 years, because he did not want to wear hearing aids, he came to our outpatient clinic, and the electric audiometry test showed that the hearing in both ears was 80dB, considering that the child was in the learning period, if he could improve his hearing through treatment, he would not need to wear hearing aids. After being discharged from the hospital, he was treated with Chinese herbal medicine and western medicine, and was re-examined again after six months, and his hearing in both ears returned to normal. Case 2: The patient was 80 years old, had tinnitus for 30 years and insomnia for 20 years, which seriously affected the quality of sleep, and came to our outpatient clinic, where he was given acupuncture point injections and Chinese herbal medicine, which reduced tinnitus after three days and improved sleep. Cases such as the above are more common in my clinic, so I give patients treatment for 3 days while treating tinnitus in the outpatient clinic, observe the efficacy, and if they feel their symptoms improve, they can continue the treatment for a week, and often get unexpected results. At the same time, about 40% of the patients have improved their hearing to varying degrees. Therefore, I think that tinnitus and deafness patients should not give up treatment just because they miss the so-called one-month treatment window of Western medicine or because they do not see obvious improvement with oral Western medicine, because the cause of this disease is not clear to Western medicine itself. Likewise, Chinese medicine practitioners should not use Zuo Ci Wan, Liu Wei Di Huang Wan, or Gentian Diarrhea Liver Pill for tinnitus, but should treat it with evidence, and often obtain unexpected gains.
