What to do about chest tightness after pleural effusion withdrawal

Chest tightness after pleural effusion extraction, considering too much fluid extraction, pneumothorax, etc., which can be stopped by fluid extraction, oxygenation, closed chest drainage, etc.
1. Stop fluid extraction: after the pleural effusion is extracted, the intrapulmonary pressure decreases and the lungs are reopened; if too much fluid is extracted at one time, the intrapulmonary pressure changes abruptly, and the patient will experience chest tightness and discomfort, so it is necessary to stop the fluid extraction immediately and continue to observe the patient.
2. Oxygen intake: excessive pleural effusion itself will have chest tightness, chest tightness can be relieved after extraction, but still have chest tightness, give oxygen intake, can improve oxygen saturation, chest tightness can be relieved.
3. Closed thoracic drainage: during the process of thoracentesis and fluid extraction, it is possible that the gas enters into the pleural cavity or the puncture needle damages the pleura, resulting in pneumothorax, and if the pneumothorax is obvious, there will be chest tightness, and puncture and extraction or closed thoracic drainage can be considered.
If chest tightness occurs after pleural effusion is extracted, the cause should be clarified and further treatment should be carried out according to the cause, and the doctor should be informed of any discomfort in time.
