How to deliver vaginally

Yesterday a patient was transferred from the general clinic to my clinic for a labor and delivery and said she heard that you are a doctor for normal births so she came to see me. I am especially happy that 1) I am not one of those doctors who unprincipledly ask patients to have cesarean delivery by patient’s word of mouth, and 2) there are still a large proportion of expectant mothers who pursue vaginal delivery. That’s why I wrote this small article to give back to the mothers-to-be who trust me. Cesarean delivery is one of the oldest procedures in the history of surgery and one of the great innovations. With the invention of various cesarean sections, strict sterilization, and the use of antibiotics, cesarean delivery has become safer and safer, and as a result, has saved the lives of countless pregnant women and babies. Nowadays, cesarean section is not a highly sophisticated procedure and can be performed in any urban obstetrics hospital or in rural hospitals in remote areas. Any resident who has been working for two or three years can perform a cesarean section beautifully after training. In conclusion. Cesarean section has contributed to the increase in life expectancy of the population. But I am not here today to promote the merits of cesarean delivery. Since the beginning of fetal animals on earth, 99.9999% of fetal animal births have been natural vaginal births. The same has been true for humans since the beginning of man. Vaginal birth is the natural way. When God created man, he also created the vaginal birth method in order to continue the reproduction of man. Of course, God occasionally makes mistakes, so there are a small number of pregnant women who do not follow the expected procedures during pregnancy and childbirth, and then the birth does not go smoothly, and then God later compensates by creating obstetricians to take care of these pregnant women. The doctor will take various measures, such as: treating high blood pressure, lowering blood sugar, using contractions, using forceps during labor, etc., and the last trick is cesarean delivery. What other tricks God created doctors to do, I will tell you in a separate small article later. Your ability to go through a vaginal birth depends not only on whether God made a mistake, but also whether you made a mistake during your pregnancy and delivery. We can’t avoid God’s mistakes, but I can tell you how to avoid yours. I’m going to tell you how to avoid your mistakes and how you can ensure a vaginal birth. Perception: Have the right perception. Many pregnant women believe in their hearts that a cesarean delivery is better, especially if it has less impact on their future sex life. This is wrong. Although cesarean delivery has made a great contribution to the history of human medicine, it has many complications. First of all, cesarean delivery has more bleeding than vaginal delivery, and secondly, there are more long-term complications. Especially for the second pregnancy, incisional pregnancy, uterine rupture, placenta praevia, etc. are serious threats to the health of the pregnant woman and the life of the mother and child. I won’t explain the disadvantages of cesarean delivery here, but I will write a small article to tell you later. Beliefs: Childbirth is an arduous process, with pain, fatigue, terror, etc. Many people want to give birth vaginally all the time, but once they enter labor, they immediately have a nervous breakdown and scream for a cesarean. Sometimes it is difficult for doctors to judge the true state of a pregnant woman when she is too active. It is important to have faith not only in the pregnant woman herself, but also in her family members. Nowadays, there are many family members in the delivery room with the pregnant woman, and many times the family members lose their faith earlier than the pregnant woman. The mother will be heartbroken about her daughter, and the mother-in-law and husband are more afraid of taking responsibility than the doctor. Trust: You must trust your doctor when you give birth in a hospital. If the doctor advises you to deliver vaginally, then he or she will be 90% sure that you can give birth and 10% sure that you are safe. Once I advised a patient to have a cesarean (huge baby), the patient must have a normal delivery, and the family said I was afraid of the risk to myself. I told him that my risk is based on the patient’s risk, and I will be safe if she is safe. The patient must have been harmed when the doctor is needed to be responsible, so the interests of the doctor and patient are aligned in the medical process. Also the doctor during your vaginal delivery actually worries more than if you go for a cesarean. A cesarean is over in half an hour, while a vaginal birth can take all night until your baby cries loudly and the placenta is delivered intact. Physical strength: Childbirth is a tough and difficult process, and a mother who has gone through a vaginal birth can be a good mother and a strong support for her child in any future difficulties. Nowadays, most of the mothers in the city are brain workers or light manual laborers, and the force used in the birthing process is once in a lifetime. It’s really tiring, sweaty, thirsty and hungry. You may have to hold on for several hours, and the last 1-2 hours are really a desperate effort, like a 100-meter sprint, like weight lifting, really an extreme sport. But you can only go forward, not backward. Those obstetricians and midwives who claim to help you, except for shouting cheer, pushing, giving you a sip of water or a piece of chocolate between contractions, actually give you limited help. In other words, the only person who can help you at the most critical time is you – that is, you should try your best to use your strength. How to ensure that you have the strength to deliver vaginally depends on the usual exercise, especially during pregnancy. It is also important to exercise properly during pregnancy. I will also write a separate small article on what exercises are suitable during pregnancy. Weight: This weight refers to the weight of both mother and baby. If a pregnant woman has too much weight before pregnancy it is recommended that you lose weight before pregnancy. In any case the weight control during pregnancy, pregnancy weight increase of 15-20 pounds, not kilograms ah! If you are thin during pregnancy, you can gain a little more. Although most of the weight you gain in your body, postpartum to increase your weight loss burden, but pregnant women who gain too much weight, the fetus weight will also be on the large side. The ideal weight of the fetus is around 6 pounds, and the maximum should not exceed 8 pounds. This weight is the healthiest and most intelligent child. Some people used to say that the child weighs more than 8 pounds, the future and the Nobel Prize is not. How to control your weight? The key is to control your mouth. Once a woman is pregnant, she immediately becomes the queen of the family. Eight meals a day, all kinds of rare fruits are let loose to eat. In fact, it is too much. I will also tell you about nutrition during pregnancy in a separate small article. In a word, control your mouth, you control your weight, your blood sugar, control your weight, blood sugar will control the weight of the fetus. If the fetus weighs less than 8 pounds, the vaginal delivery will be smooth and the child’s health will be guaranteed. Also pregnant women with gestational diabetes, don’t just control your diet, you must use insulin when you need it, this is also for the health of the child (not just the fetus). Waiting for delivery: You need 8-10 checkups during pregnancy so that the doctor has ample opportunity to find out if God and you have made a mistake so that the doctor can fix or resolve it early. The fact that you have done so shows that you trust your doctor, and if nothing unusual is found either, your doctor will give you a recommendation for vaginal delivery at 38-39 weeks. Then, in addition to the appeal 5, you are advised not to be admitted to the hospital too early for labor. It is not too late to be hospitalized when you see redness and have mild abdominal pains, and if there are no signs of labor beyond the due date you can wait until 41 weeks. Count the fetal movements while you are at home for delivery. A baby that moves normally is safe. Too early admission to the hospital can be influenced by other pregnant women which can break your faith, as well as medical over-interventions that can eventually lead to a failed vaginal birth. Of course, menstruating mothers should not come to the hospital too late and should always be seen promptly if their fetal movements decrease while they are at home.
