What is baby touch?

Baby touch is gentle touch and loving verbal communication with newborns. Its physiological and psychological benefits have been widely appreciated by the health care community. In fact, it has been proven that infant touch can stimulate the infant’s lymphatic system and strengthen resistance; increase infant sleep and improve sleep quality; help calm the infant’s emotions and reduce crying; promote mother-infant emotional communication and promote lactation; in addition, touch can also promote infant dietary absorption and hormone secretion to achieve weight gain, relieve infant gas and bloating, and firm muscles. 1, the preparation before touch (1) maintain the appropriate room temperature (about 25 degrees Celsius) and touch time (about 20 minutes) to ensure comfort and 15 minutes without interference. (2) use a comfortable position, choose a quiet, clean room, put some soft music as a background. (3) Choose an appropriate time for touching. Babies should not be too full or too hungry, and touching is best done after a bath. (4) Before touching, prepare towels, diapers, replacement clothes, pour some baby oil on your palms and rub them together to warm your hands. 2, the steps of touch (1) face (to relieve facial tension) Take an appropriate amount of baby oil or baby lotion, from the center of the forehead with both thumbs to push outward pressure, draw a smile. (2) Chest (smooth breathing circulation) Place both hands on both sides of the rib cage, slide the right hand upward toward the baby’s right shoulder and recover, and do the same with the left hand. (3) Hands (to increase the flexible response) Put the infant’s hands down and squeeze his arms with one hand, gently squeeze and pinch from the upper arm to the wrist, then massage the wrist with the fingers. Massage the other hand in the same way. Hold the small arm with both hands, roll it up and down, and gently flick the infant’s wrist and small hand. In the premise of ensuring that the hand does not hurt, use the thumb to massage from the palm of the hand to the fingers. (4) Abdomen (helps with bowel movement) Massage the abdomen in a clockwise direction, but do not massage the area until the umbilical scab has fallen off. Massage with the fingertips on the infant’s abdomen from the operator’s left to the right, the operator may feel the bubbles moving under the fingers. You can do the “ILOVEYOU” bonding experience by drawing an English letter “I” from top to bottom on the infant’s left abdomen with your right hand, then drawing a backwards “L” from left to right in the direction of the operator. “L”, and finally a backwards “U” from left to right. (5) Legs (to increase motor coordination) Massage the infant’s thighs, knees and calves, gently squeezing from the thighs to the ankles, and then massage the ankles and feet.
