Definition: A syndrome with a combination of hypertension and abnormalities in glucose and lipid metabolism. It is accompanied by elevated LDL and reduced HDL cholesterol. Metabolic syndrome is a pathological state of abnormal clustering of multiple metabolic components, a complex group of metabolic disorders syndrome, a risk factor for diabetic cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease, and its cluster occurrence may be related to insulin resistance, which has now become a hot spot of common concern for cardiologists and diabetologists. Diagnostic criteria According to the diagnostic criteria for metabolic syndrome in China formulated by the Chinese Medical Association in 2004, those with more than 3 of the following 4 items can be diagnosed. 1. overweight and obesity; 2. hyperglycemia; 3. hypertension; 4. dyslipidemia. 1, overweight and obesity: body mass index ≥ 25. 2, hyperglycemia: fasting blood glucose ≥ 6 mmol / l and or 2 hours after meals blood glucose ≥ 7.8 mmol / l and or have been diagnosed with diabetes mellitus. 3, hypertension: systolic/diastolic blood pressure ≥ 140/90 mmHg, and or have been diagnosed and treated for hypertension. 4, dyslipidemia: fasting triglycerides ≥ 1.7 mmol/L and fasting HDL cholesterol < 0.9 mmol/L in men and < 1 mmol/L in women.
