Is there any hope of getting pregnant with adenomyosis? What are the chances?

Conception, for every family, is an important matter. A child, carries the hope of the parents, the hope of the future. However, for some families, having a child is not so easy. In the clinical work of adenomyosis, we receive such questions from patients: “Director, I have adenomyosis, is it impossible to get pregnant?” I have been preparing for pregnancy, but I have not been able to conceive, is it related to adenomyosis? “Can I still get pregnant and what are the chances?” Then I will explain this question to you today. Adenomyosis has a certain effect on pregnancy, but it does not necessarily lead to failure to conceive. As for the chance of pregnancy, it depends on the individual’s condition, and it is not possible to judge the whole group of adenomyosis patients by one person to generalize the chance of pregnancy. Among the patients I see, there are those who have been trying to conceive and have not conceived, and there are also many who have had two children and then come back to me to solve their adenomyosis problem. Therefore, if you have adenomyosis now, but are still planning to have a baby, it is advisable to prepare for pregnancy first. How do you know if you can get pregnant unless you try? So if you have adenomyosis, don’t have too much psychological burden first, actively prepare for pregnancy and solve the fertility problem first, because adenomyosis is a progressive aggravation of the disease, that is, the longer you delay, adenomyosis will also become more and more serious. So next, let’s briefly explain why adenomyosis has an impact on pregnancy. The reason is that adenomyosis causes the environment of the uterine cavity to deteriorate. In adenomyosis, the lesions are more diffuse and the uterus becomes larger and the uterine wall becomes thicker. In addition, many patients with adenomyosis have comorbid symptoms, such as adenomyosis combined with myoma, adenomyosis combined with coeliac disease, combined with polyps, etc. In such cases, the environment for fertilization of the egg can be harsh. A fertilized egg is like a seed. A seed can thrive in fertile soil, but it is hard to say whether a small bud in a pile of rocks will survive and how big it will grow. In addition to this, the lesions may cause the fallopian tubes to become inaccessible. If the adenomyosis lesions are diffuse, and if the lesions press on the fallopian tubes, the tubes will not be open, so the eggs and sperm will not be able to meet, and it will be difficult to get pregnant. Adenomyosis has an effect on pregnancy, but you should not be directly “scared”, you should still prepare for pregnancy, or afterwards you can also consider in vitro fertilization, only after trying, to know whether it can work. If you don’t succeed once, don’t be too frustrated, but have the courage to continue, so that you won’t have any regrets later. What should you do if you are an adenomyosis patient and you get pregnant? First of all, congratulations, it’s not easy to get pregnant with adenomyosis. However, it is still important to pay attention, usually rest more and do not do large movements and sports. In the early stages, you still have to be cautious and pay attention to these problems of miscarriage. I once had a patient with adenomyosis who got pregnant and I advised her to rest more, lie down at home, don’t squeeze the subway or bus, stay at home and nurture peacefully, and finally give birth to a beautiful girl. Once the fertility problem is solved, you can also come to me to solve the adenomyosis problem. After removing only the adenomyosis lesions and preserving the uterus, the menstrual flow will return to normal and the menstrual pain problem will be solved. If the adenomyosis is very severe and you have been unsuccessful in trying to conceive, you can also come to me to solve the adenomyosis problem first, then evaluate your body according to your recovery and prepare for pregnancy.
