There is no precedent for the treatment of plantar warts with retinoic acid. Since plantar warts are particularly hypertrophic and retinoic acid creams are not effective in treating plantar warts, this treatment is not valid. Plantar warts are HPV-infected hyperplastic oily skin conditions, and cryotherapy is the treatment of choice. If there is no particularly obvious effect after 2-3 freezing treatments, photodynamic therapy or surgical excision can be used, as well as laser treatment. In addition to this, treatment with immunosuppressants or immunomodulators, such as injections of BCG polysaccharide nucleic acid, can also be used.
