How long does it take to wake up from a coma with brain stem hemorrhage

How long it takes to wake up from a coma with brainstem hemorrhage varies from person to person and needs to be judged according to the specific condition. Brainstem hemorrhage has a rapid onset and a poor prognosis. After active treatment, once the vital signs are stable and in good condition, the patient can gradually wake up in about 2-4 weeks; if the vital signs continue to be unstable, it is unlikely to wake up. How long it takes to wake up from a coma with brainstem hemorrhage mainly depends on the amount and severity of the hemorrhage and whether the treatment is timely. If the bleeding volume is less than 3 ml, most of them can wake up in 2-4 weeks after timely treatment; if the bleeding volume is more than 5 ml, it will take longer to wake up, and even long-term coma can occur; if the bleeding volume is more than 10 ml, it can lead to deep coma or death. Usually, if the patient is off the ventilator and still maintains normal vital signs with no abnormal pupil changes, he or she will usually slowly awaken after 2 weeks. During treatment recovery, it is recommended to closely observe the patient’s vital signs and mental status, pay attention to pupil changes, and visit the hospital neurology department promptly if there are any abnormalities. Once the vital signs are stable, help is needed to perform functional exercises as early as possible to promote the recovery of all body functions and regular review.
