Salivary gland cysts are benign tumour-like lesions of the salivary glands. The masses are well defined, usually round, soft to the touch, with no adhesions to the surrounding tissue and can be gently pushed. The cyst is located under the mucous membrane and has a thin film on its surface. As there is saliva or pus formed after infection inside the lump, one can feel the fluctuating sensation inside the cyst with one’s fingers.
