Can a torn upper lip ligament heal itself?

The upper lip ligament fracture can usually heal on its own, and the position of the upper lip ligament may change after healing without affecting the function of the upper lip, but whether to let it heal on its own depends on the depth of the wound. If the upper lip ligament is broken, the wound should be inspected promptly to make sure that no sand, stones, glass fragments or other foreign bodies remain. Secondly, if the depth of the wound is limited to the submucosa, and the muscle layer is not injured, and the shape is regular, no special treatment can be given, and there is a possibility of self-healing, which can be observed. If the wound is injured to the muscular layer or has an irregular shape, the natural healing may form a large scar, which will affect the appearance of the lip and require surgical suturing. In order to prevent infection of the wound, the patient can go to the stomatology department of a regular hospital, or the oral and maxillofacial surgery department of a large hospital for local debridement and disinfection. It is also possible to perform debridement suturing under local anesthesia to avoid wound infection and help promote wound healing.
