Cluster headache has strong symptoms and generally includes treatment in the onset phase and preventive treatment in the remission phase.
Treatment during the onset phase is generally the most efficient way to relieve symptoms through medications such as selective 5-H1B/1D receptor agonists in conjunction with oxygenation.
Patients in remission are mostly free of headache symptoms and can be treated prophylactically with lithium salts and melatonin. If all effects are limited, surgical treatment, such as treatment with trigeminal or pterygopalatine ganglion surgery, occipital nerve stimulation, and deep brain stimulation therapy, may be considered.
