How is glioblastoma treated in the elderly?

  At the European Frontiers in Neuro-Oncology Conference in Romania in March 2011 EORTC Vice President and renowned professor of neuro-oncology STUPP, noted in a session on geriatric glioblastoma that the global multicenter randomized open clinical drug trials of postoperative radiotherapy alone versus radiotherapy + temozolomide synchronized chemotherapy + 6 courses of postoperative temozolomide chemotherapy published in 2005 and 2009 involved mainly adult patients, while in elderly patients older than 60 years, postoperative hypofractionated conventional radiotherapy or temozolomide chemotherapy alone can be equally beneficial.
