How long does it take to recover from tongue tie surgery

After lingual ligament surgery, the incision usually heals in 3-7 days, but full restoration of speech function may take more than 3-6 months. Lingual ligament surgery is commonly used to treat short lingual ligaments. A short tongue ligament is a developmental abnormality that prevents the tip of the tongue from extending out of the mouth due to the abnormal position of the tongue ligament, resulting in an abnormal tongue tip when extending the tongue, which in turn affects normal speech function. If there are no contraindications to surgery, patients should undergo surgery, i.e. tongue ligament surgery, which requires anesthesia and stitching. After lingual ligament surgery, patients should pay attention to avoid stimulation of the wound when eating, and do a good job of oral cleaning and protection, rinse the mouth often, pay attention to the balance of diet, avoid eating spicy stimulation or too hard, too hot food.
